Why do we like markets, fairs and markets so much?
Why do we like markets, fairs and markets so much?
A few words from behind the Oyasumi stand
We often hear the question: "Are these trade shows profitable for you? Do you make any money from them?"
And every time we want to answer: sometimes yes, but above all, we're there for the people . If it were just about numbers, we'd probably just sit in front of a computer.
For us, Oyasumi isn't just about olive oil candles, scented wax melts, or ceramic burners. It's about memories from travels, scents associated with specific moments and emotions, which we try to capture in glass and ceramics. And the best place to share all this calmly is at markets, fairs, and local fairs.
Face-to-face meetings – that's why we go there
Every day, you see us mainly online, in the Oyasumi.pl store, on Allegro, and sometimes on social media. It's great, but... it won't replace the moment when someone stops by our stand, picks up an olive oil candle, smells the wax melts, and says:
“Oh my goodness, this scent is my entire Christmas in one jar” or “this is exactly what I was looking for.”
At the fair:
-
we choose scents to suit your mood, interior or specific occasion – sometimes just a few questions are enough and we know what to suggest,
-
we show live how ceramic fireplaces work and how to safely use scented waxes,
-
We explain why we chose olive wax, how it differs from soy or paraffin, and how it affects the burning and the smell in your home.
In moments like these, Oyasumi ceases to be "just another internet brand." What remains is a conversation over fragrance, a very normal, human conversation, sometimes with digressions and laughter.
We can finally tell you why we make olive candles
It's impossible to always cover everything in product descriptions or posts. At the stand, it's certainly possible. We have time to calmly share:
-
where did the idea for olive wax candles come from,
-
why we insist on handwork and perfecting every detail,
-
how specific scents are created – from inspiration from travel to a finished candle or scented wax with its own little story in the background
We very often hear the sentence:
"Seriously, is there such a thing as olive wax? This is the first I've heard of it!"
And it's precisely for these kinds of reactions that we like to be there. We can show you the difference, let you smell it, and answer all the "dumb questions" (spoiler: there are no dumb questions, only unspoken ones).
What is so special about olive wax?
We write a lot about it on the blog and on social media, but in person it's a completely different story - you can just walk up to it, smell it, and see what an olive candle looks like after a few hours of burning.
At trade fairs we often say that our candles:
-
are made of olive wax, which creates a smooth, elegant surface and looks great in glass,
-
they work well with fragrance compositions, thanks to which the scent spreads evenly throughout the room,
-
combined with a properly selected wick, they provide a soft, cozy light, perfect for an evening reset
Olive wax is still quite unusual on the market, so we're happy to share what fascinated us about it. Trade fairs, markets, and fairs are the perfect place to show that a candle can be more than just a pretty addition to a dresser.
Scented waxes and ceramic burners – we show everything live
Online, we can write " scented wax melts for ceramic fireplaces," post a few photos, and that's it. At a stand, it looks completely different.
Usually:
-
we show how much wax to actually put into the bowl and that you don't need a whole block,
-
we explain how long to burn a tealight so as not to overheat the fireplace,
-
we tell you how to care for a ceramic fireplace so that it serves you for years, not just one season,
-
We advise you when you can mix scents and when it is better not to do so to avoid a "fragrance mishmash".
For many people, an aromatherapy fireplace is a complete novelty. We often hear, "This is the first time I've seen something like this in person." After a short demonstration, ceramic fireplaces cease to be "some strange gadget from the internet" and become a simple way to create a home spa.
We meet fantastic people (and that is priceless)
Trade fairs, markets, and fairs are not just about selling. They are:
-
conversations about what scents you love, what you miss,
-
stories about your homes, holidays, family rituals, memories,
-
connections with other exhibitors, craftsmen, artists, and local producers
Sometimes you come back to us after a year or two and say:
"We had an olive candle from you for Christmas, now we're looking for something for spring"
or
"The scented wax melt we tried recently was perfect for long evenings. What do you recommend now?"
Thanks to meetings like these, Oyasumi grows with you. Instead of just looking at statistics, we see real people who actually use our olive oil candles , scented wax melts, and ceramic burners.
The fair is a break from everyday life
From the outside, it looks like quite a lot of hard work: unpacking boxes, setting up the stand, pricing, talking, packing orders, then packing everything back into the truck. And yes, there's a lot of physical labor involved.
But at the same time, fairs and markets are a respite for us from what happens every day in the studio and at the computer.
At events like these:
-
we capture people's energy because sometimes a few nice conversations are enough to make the tiredness go away,
-
we laugh when someone says that "this scent smells like a vacation at grandma's allotment",
-
We are happy for every person who hears about olive wax candles for the first time in their life,
-
we feel that what we do makes sense because we see your reactions live, not just clicks
That's why for us the fair is not only work, but also a very pleasant part of this whole "Oyasumi adventure".
Why is it worth visiting our stand?
If you see Oyasumi appearing at a fair, market, or local bazaar, just walk up. You can:
-
smell all the olive candles and choose the one that really "speaks to you",
-
get to know our scented waxes for burners and ask about every detail (we really like questions and conversations),
-
take a close look at ceramic fireplaces and see how they work,
-
talk to us about scents, travel, interiors and small relaxation rituals
And we simply love meeting you. Without these conversations, Oyasumi would be just a pretty photo on the internet. Thanks to you, it becomes a living story told through scent, candlelight, and simple conversation at the booth.
If you want to know where we'll be next, check out our Instagram and Oyasumi.pl website. See you at the next market, fair, or bazaar, at a table full of olive oil candles, scented wax melts, and ceramic fireplaces, just waiting to take you on a little olfactory journey.
