How to use an aroma burner?
A small ritual, a great pleasure
A scented wax burner is a quick, elegant way to create a mood – a fresh morning wake-up call, an evening of tranquility, or a fragrance that accompanies meetings. Olive wax melts into a smooth sheet and is an excellent carrier of aroma, allowing you to enjoy the full aroma for hours.
Below, you'll find simple, step-by-step instructions, proven safety tips, and answers to frequently asked questions. Everything is crafted in the spirit of Oyasumi—with beautiful fragrance, aesthetics, and the tranquility of the moment in mind.
Step-by-step instructions
1) Set up and prepare the fireplace
-
Choose a flat, heat-resistant place away from fabrics, plants, curtains and children/pets.
-
Avoid drafts – even melting produces a more harmonious scent.
2) Add wax
-
Place a small piece of wax in a bowl (about 10-15 g, then adjust the amount to the square footage and preferences).
-
Remember, you can always add a little more.
3) Light a tealight
-
Insert an unscented tealight into the bottom of the fireplace and light it.
-
After a few minutes, the wax will begin to melt and the fragrance will be released.
4) Control the intensity
-
More wax means a stronger aroma, but don't overfill the bowl!
-
If you want to quickly air out, simply turn off the tealight – the wax will harden and be ready for another session.
5) Termination and Reuse
-
When you're finished, turn off the tealight and wait for the wax to cool completely.
-
You can use the same portion repeatedly until the smell becomes weaker.
Note: We do not add water or oils to waxes. Water is only used with essential oils in special oil burners.
Cleaning the fireplace – simple methods
-
The "cold" method (pull-out disc): Wait for the wax to harden, then gently pry it out. It often comes out in one piece. If not, you can scrape the wax off.
-
Warm method: While the wax is still warm and melted, you can pour it into a bag, for example, and then throw it in the trash. The wax is biodegradable. Wipe the bowl clean of any remaining wax. Remember, the wax burner may be hot, so be careful not to burn yourself.
Don't pour wax down the sink; it can harden in the pipes! Throw it in your general waste.
Common Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)
-
Too much wax in the bowl can cause overflow, poor diffusion, and, in extreme cases, fire. Start with small portions.
-
Too intense flame - choose tealights of good quality but standard wattage.
-
Drafts - fanning the flame interferes with the melting and even release of the aroma.
-
Mixing different media, e.g. wax + water/oil - unpredictable smell and behavior of the wax
Safety and good practices
-
Never leave a lit tealight unattended.
-
Do not move the burner with liquid, hot wax.
-
Use unscented tealights – foreign aromas can “contaminate” the composition.
-
Do not mix wax with water, oils, perfume or alcohol in a bowl.
-
Keep a distance of 10–15 cm above the flame (most fireplaces have this design).
-
Keep away from children and pets; avoid shelves where the fireplace could fall.
If you're just starting out, choose one or two blends and test them out in small batches. Once you find your favorite, incorporate them into your daily ritual—fresh notes in the morning, energizing throughout the day, and soothing in the evening.
