Dalmatian Memories: Why Does Your Vacation Scent Need Olive Wax and Not Soy?
Dalmatian Memories: Why Does Your Vacation Scent Need Olive Wax and Not Soy?
Croatia. For millions of Poles, it's a keyword that immediately evokes memories of the turquoise Adriatic Sea, dinners in the narrow streets of Trogir, and the scent of lavender drying in the sun. It's a country where time flows differently, and "pomalo" (slowly) is a philosophy of life. At Oyasumi, we decided to capture these emotions in glass, but in a way that defies market convention. We present Memory of Dalmatia – a composition where noble lavender meets intriguing notes of hemp and hops. It's the scent of fun, freedom, and a summer night, which – most importantly – rests on a foundation of security and European origins.
Lavender, Hemp and Hops – A Modern Ritual of Relaxation
Most people associate lavender solely with grandma's wardrobe or cheap air fresheners. That's a mistake. In Dalmatia, lavender is a wild, raw, and intense scent. By adding notes of hemp and hops, we've broken its floral sweetness, giving the composition a unisex character.
-
Lavender is responsible for calming and reducing stress.
-
Hemp brings an earthy, green depth that intrigues and creates the atmosphere of a luxurious spa.
-
Hops add a slightly bitter, relaxing note, reminiscent of an evening of relaxation after a day full of excitement.
This combination is no accident. It's an olfactory record of Croatian entertainment—from lazy afternoons on the beach to the vibrant clubs of Hvar.
Why is Olive Wax the only choice for the Mediterranean soul?
Since we're inspired by a region where olives are sacred, the choice of base was obvious. Olive wax outperforms the popular soy candle in every respect, especially when it comes to such complex scents as "Memory of Dalmatia."
-
Thermal Stability and Clean Burning: Unlike soy, which often comes from mass-produced GMO crops in the Americas, our wax is of European origin and uniquely thermally stable. With its higher melting point, olive wax releases the hop and hemp notes gradually, allowing them to unfold in their full spectrum without the risk of overburning the aroma.
-
Velvety Texture and Aesthetics: Oyasumi candles are distinguished by their perfectly smooth, white surface. Soy wax often struggles with "frosting" (a white film) or uneven hardening. Our oil returns to its velvety smoothness after each burn, a standard in the premium segment.
-
Soot and Toxin-Free: As an expert brand, we emphasize: olive wax burns cleaner than soy. When burned properly, it doesn't emit black soot that could contaminate your interior or—worse yet—your respiratory system.
Data-backed safety (No UFI)
As the creators of Oyasumi , we place great emphasis on what you breathe in. "Memory of Dalmatia"—like all our candles—is created in safe concentrations .
We use only certified synthetic oils, which allows us to eliminate the most potent allergens found in natural essential oils (which, in the case of lavender or hops, can be irritating to allergy sufferers). This means our candles do not require a UFI number or warning pictograms on the label. This is a "Pure & Safe" product, ideal for homes where air quality is a concern.
We also take care of every detail in the diffuser version. Our carrier base is 73% biodegradable and free from endocrine disrupting substances . Moreover, it is characterized by high density and low volatility. , which makes the fragrance release slowly and last much longer than cheap substitutes based on ethyl alcohol.
