Secrets of Burning Olive Candles
Quick Instructions
For the candle to develop its full aroma, the size of the candle should be adjusted to the size of the room.
Some tips:
✔ Before you light your new candle for the first time, let it reach room temperature,
✔ the first burning should melt the entire surface of the candle to allow it to release its hidden scents – allow 2-3 hours for this,
✔ the candle should not burn for more than 4 hours at a time, and the wick should not be longer than 3-5 mm before lighting, if necessary, trim it with scissors,
✔ avoid extinguishing the candle by blowing it out, it is best to use special chokes that prevent smoke from being forced into the candle,
✔ while burning and after extinguishing, the candle will be hot and liquid, to avoid burns, wait for it to cool down.
Why does a candle have “imperfections”? Air bubbles, irregularities, and subtle cracks are like the fingerprints of a craftsman. Perfection is an illusion—true beauty lies in natural asymmetry.
Extended manual
Welcome to the world of olive candles, where the beauty of natural scent meets the art of conscious burning.
For candle lovers and natural product enthusiasts, mastering the art of burning olive oil candles can elevate your sensory experience. In this post, we'll reveal the secrets to getting the most out of your olive oil candles—from the moment you bring them home to the peaceful light they cast in your surroundings. Immerse yourself in the elegance and tranquility of burning these unique, eco-friendly candles.
Preparing the candle for burning
Before lighting your new olive oil candle for the first time, allow it to come to room temperature. This is crucial to ensure even burning and the full release of the candle's fragrance.
Once the candle has reached room temperature, place it in a room where the fragrance can spread freely. Avoid drafty areas, which can disrupt even burning and affect the fragrance. Remember, location matters! Choosing the right spot will ensure not only a beautiful fragrance but also an unforgettable atmosphere.
Matching the candle to the room
The size of the candle really matters, especially if you want a full fragrance experience. Matching the candle's size to the space of the room is crucial. Smaller candles are better suited for small rooms, as they won't overwhelm the space with fragrance. In larger spaces, it's worth choosing larger candles, which will fill the room with their aromas.
When choosing a candle, consider the effect you want to achieve. A delicate, subtle scent for relaxation in the bedroom? Or perhaps an intense, invigorating aroma for the living room? Matching a candle to the room is like choosing the right wine for dinner—every detail matters.
The first burning of the candle
The first burning of your candle is crucial for optimal results. It should be long enough to melt the entire surface of the candle. Why? This will allow the candle to fully release its fragrances. Two to three hours is recommended.
If a candle burns unevenly, it can experience tunneling, where the flame burns the wax only in the center, creating a tunnel. This not only shortens the burn time but also weakens the fragrance, which is why the first burn is so important.
Optimal burning time
Candles should not burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning for too long can cause the wax to overheat and the fragrance to deteriorate. Before lighting, ensure the wick is no longer than 0.3-0.5 cm. Trim it with scissors if necessary.
Trimming your wick isn't just a matter of aesthetics, but also safety. A shorter wick means a smaller flame, which reduces the risk of smoke and ensures a cleaner burn. A good quality pair of wick scissors can be a great investment for any candle enthusiast.
Extinguishing the candle
Avoid blowing out the candle, as this can lead to smoke pollution. It's best to use special chokes, which ensure a clean and safe extinguishing of the flame. Smothering the flame with a lid will also contaminate the candle, forcing smoke into the candle and ruining its fragrance—this is worth remembering.
If you don't have a choke on hand, an alternative solution is to use a metal spoon to slowly extinguish the flame. Remember, being careful when extinguishing a candle isn't just about the quality of the scent, but also about your own safety.
Smoking safety
The candle will be hot and liquid while burning and after extinguishing. To avoid burns, allow it to cool completely before moving or storing it. Safety should always come first, so keep this in mind, especially if there are children or pets in the home.
It's also worth avoiding placing candles on flammable surfaces. Candle coasters aren't just decorative—they provide stability and safety. It's a small detail, but it can make a huge difference.
And the most important thing: a candle is, above all, fire, and fire does not like children when they are left alone!
Natural imperfections
The imperfections you may notice on the candle's surface are due to its natural composition and handcrafted production. These are not defects, but a testament to its authenticity and naturalness. In a world dominated by artificiality, such natural details are becoming increasingly valued.
Remember that perfection lies in nature, and every imperfection is a testament to the uniqueness of your candle. Every handmade product has a story, and these nuances are part of it. Enjoy what nature has to offer, and don't try to improve on perfection.
